One kids' bubble umbrella, some cardboard, and a string of fairy lights. He flew it up and down the driveway until it got dark, and then it got even better 🚀

Cut 8 panels

All 8 are identical.

Build it

Mark and cut 8 panels from flattened single wall cardboard.
On each panel, fold the bottom 4 1/8" (10.5 cm) band straight up, and fold a 1 1/8" (3 cm) strip along one side. That strip is the overlap. Press a ruler along each line first for a clean crease.
Punch 3 holes down the overlap strip. I used 2 and it held fine, but 3 gives you a sturdier joint.
Overlap the panels and join them with the plastic screws until the ring closes.
Drop the ring over the open umbrella and tape it underneath, out of sight.

Then paint it blue, glue on punched paper stars, wind the fairy lights around the rim, and hide the battery pack inside. Wait for dark 🌙
